Eddie Trunk interviewed Soul Asylum leader Dave Pirner today (4/17/20) on his Sirius XM radio show.
Pirner chatted with Trunk about the latest Soul Asylum release “Hurry Up and Wait” and mentioned that his mother who was suffering from Alzheimers Disease was doing ok.
While talking about the latest Soul Asylum release Pirner apologized to Trunk for the new Soul Asylum record not being more metal and Trunk told him that it was ok because it’s not something that he goes to Soul Asylum for. He then asked Pirner if he was interested in making a Metal record.
Pirner: “I kinda do. I kinda do. I’ve been asked a couple of times how one record…well this one is kinda breezy, your words, which I love, but I think the next one I want to go extra hard."
Trunk: It could be influenced by the pandemic. Being quarantined by a pandemic could create great metal songs.
Pirner: Oh My God, Plus it’s making me sorta (have) Minnesota cabin fever because we might have another few months here and yeah, the angst is gonna be there, it’s gonna be tuned way down low.
Soul Asylum’s latest release “Hurry Up and Wait” was released on April 17, 2020.
