Wednesday 13, the band and the man, took the stage at 7:50 PM prompt for a total assault on the eyes, ears, and minds of those in attendance; this band is the things nightmares are made of!
Wednesday is a chameleon; his face changes just as often as his onstage attire. The show started with Mr. 13 looking like a macabre specter, he then transformed into a Zombie version of Ziggy Stardust. By the time “Serpent Society” started Wednesday looked reminiscent of Regan from The Exorcist doing the crab walk. The end of the set saw Mr. 13 morph into a human looking monster.
The members of the Wednesday 13 band are creepy, real life Garbage Pail Kids and ironically enough at the merch table there was a Wednesday 13 - Garbage Pail Kids parody shirt.
The entire W-13 set was comprised of all new songs; no classics from The Murderdolls or Frankenstein Drag Queens were performed on this night.
Wednesday and his merry band of monsters ended their set at 8:30 PM and Dani Filth and the boys in Cradle of Filth had their work cut out for them following Wednesday 13!
A roadcase Cradle of Filth were using onstage sported a Hellyeah sticker and clearly came from one of the bands tours.
Dani Filth is a tiny terror; his screeching vocals contrast his deep speaking voice and the current backing band has changed several times since the bands inception with Dani being the only original member.
The Cradle of Filth tour passes featured a photo of Jesus wearing a shirt that says, "Dani Filth is a Cunt".
The most controversial concert shirt ever made was for sale at the Cradle merch table; “Jesus is a Cunt” made worldwide headlines when it was originally released and still remains an underground favorite amongst fans alike. Rapper Iggy Azalea was recently seen sporting said shirt and likewise turned some heads when she chose to wear the questionable shirt.
The Cradle of Filth set was a little over 90 minutes and featured an interesting assortment of both new and older tracks from the bands history.
“Dusk and Her Embrace” received an amazing crowd reaction and “From The Cradle To Enslave” was hands down the best song in the bands set which closed out the evening.
The venue was not totally sold out but it was very close with a standing room only crowd moshing throughout most of the night. Die Hard fans clamored to get a decent view of Dani and Wednesday while the rowdy rockers chose to mosh and crowd surf throughout the evening.
On a personal note I felt like Wednesday 13 was the best band at this show; their set was strong, spooky, and despite a few Marilyn Manson-like moments from Mr. 13, they were superior to Cradle of Filth in both presence and music.
